Meet the Team:

Florence Marie-Louise Burrows

Writer and Co-Founder

Florence is a native French woman with over 20 years of experience as a nanny in the Seattle area. The resilience of children never ceases to amaze her; they symbolize hope for a brighter, more inclusive future for our community.

Each child needs love and a strong bond with both of their parents to give them the best chances in life. Unfortunately, many children grow up in counterproductive environments, sometimes facing challenges like parental incarceration or mental illness within the family. These experiences can have life-long consequences.

Florence's commitment to child welfare extends beyond traditional family structures. She advocates for the rights and mental well-being of transgender and LGBTQ+ youth. She believes that every child, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, deserves a nurturing environment where they can thrive and be themselves without fear of discrimination or alienation.

After witnessing firsthand the ravages of a form of child abuse called parental alienation, Florence decided to further her education. She is an MSW student at Arizona State University, with aspirations to continue onto a doctorate in social welfare.

Florence envisions becoming an agent of change by renovating a van to offer mental health services in the most secluded areas of Washington State, ensuring that marginalized communities also have access to essential care.

"The work of Empathic Little Humans Press is important. If one child can be helped with my books, I will have accomplished my life mission."
